Summary of Todays Articles

Toay's groups discussions touch basis on some interesting topics. My two favorite articles were the discussion on texting, and is IPhone a good idea forCheck Spelling classroom use. I know every one has different opinions on each of theses topics and I would like to share my opinion on each of these topics.
I would like to start with texting, John Sutherland wrote that texting is bleak, bald, sad shorthand which masks dyslexia, poor spelling and mental laziness. I totally disagree with this Author. I think it helps out with today's generation. even though it might be shorthand sometimes, its teaching today's generation how to write and read. Its a form of communication, and it helps this generation on there spelling also, because most kids if they are like me they are going to read over there text so they want sound dumb before sending it out, so it helps them to proofread and form sentences.
Also we discussed the use of IPhone in the schools, Abilene Christian University's gave there freshman's T-shirts, iPhone, or ipod touch. Schools say the devices will pep up class discussions and give students quick access to important information like local maps, and calendars. My opinion is a little different on this topic, I think texting is okay, but its a time and place for everything. I think it will be a distraction during lecture, yes they say its attended for classroom use, but be honest, if you have a phone in front of you do you really think your mind will be focus on what the attended use is for. If your like me your going to check e-mails, face book, and my space accounts.
So that my opinion and today's technology in the classroom and outside of the classroom, everyone in class today had a different outlook on these two subjects and that is what made this so interesting to me.
