Blog#24 Writing Center Experience

Today in class we continued to work on our comparison or contrast essay, I am almost finish with my essay I only have the conclusion to complete and then I can go over it and scan it for errors and etc. I had a appointment today with a tutor in the writing center. when I arrived for my appointment they didn't have me in the computer, which made me very upset because I made the appointment three weeks ago. So I had to sit dig in my purse for the appointment card, If I did not have that I would have been stuck out because of them not me, but them.

But anyway, After having to wait for someone they finally found a tutor for me, Sela. I have worked with her before and I think she is a great tutor. Sela read my paper aloud and marked things as we went along to discuss afterwards. She ask me what things that I feel I need to work on and we will start their. So I told her I had a problem with punctuation and grammar. Sela said that overall I have a good paper and that I was correct about needing help on my punctuation. Sela also said that was her problem in college punctuation she would write a great paper but suck at punctuation and get marked off for it, which I do too.

So after going over the paper Sela helped out with my punctuation, she also took out some extra words that she said was not needed. We also went over verbs and nouns and when to use them. She exactly help me out a lot. and taught me a lot about punctuation, but I am not a English major so I know my paper is not going to be perfect or without error, but I do try my best in all my essay to make an A, and with each essay I learn something new. Sela also said that my thesis was good and straight to the point.

Going to the writing center was an advantage this time around, seeing that it started out pretty rocky. But the overall experience was good and educating.
after the initial shock of not being in the system. so now it is time to go back to the drawing board and edit my paper and get it ready for the final copy.
